How Peels Improve Skin
Chemical peeling is a procedure that aims to accelerate skin exfoliation by the use of chemical substances resulting in renewed, healthier looking skin and more uniform complexion.
What To Expect In Treatment
The complete treatment is expected to take 60 minutes, which includes ample time to address any questions you have, and a discussion on post-peel care. The actual application procedure is approximately 20 minutes. Tingling sensations may occur but vary from patient to patient. Your Medical Esthetician can provide a handheld fan used during the procedure if any discomfort occurs.

Any procedures or products that may increase skin sensitivity should be avoided before your treatment. Ask your provider for details.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for a chemical peel treatment is someone with fair to medium skin tones and mild to moderate skin concerns. They would like to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, or uneven skin tone. They should not have active skin infections, open wounds, or a history of severe skin sensitivity. Our expert aestheticians will help determine if a chemical peel is right for you.
About The Peel
During a chemical peel treatment, the patient will receive a thorough cleansing of the skin. A chemical solution is then applied. You may experience a tingling or burning sensation as the solution works to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin. This usually lasts only a few minutes. For deeper peels, a cooling device or fan may be used for comfort. After a short time, the solution is neutralized and removed. Post-treatment, the skin might feel tight and look red, similar to a sunburn, with possible peeling over the next few days.
Right After Treatment
Immediately after a chemical peel, you can expect redness, sensitivity, and a feeling similar to a sunburn. Mild swelling and peeling of the skin may occur within a few days. Patients should keep the area moisturized with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer and avoid picking at peeling skin. Sun exposure must be minimized. Using a sunscreen with high SPF like our Alastin Hydratint Pro is essential. Harsh skincare products should be avoided until the skin is fully healed.
How Long Between Treatments?
For maximum results, this peel can be received every 2 weeks until desired results are achieved. Results are cumulative and optimal benefits are seen with a series of 3 or more peels.
