A full face CoolPeel laser peel can take anywhere from 10-15 minutes. Additional areas may range from 10-15 additional minutes per area. See which areas we treat with CoolPeel.

You should expect to be a little red, as if you have a sunburn, for a day, or two, but nothing should prevent you from returning to your normal daily activities. The skin may appear as an exaggerated tan.

Skin may flake during the healing process- The main benefit of our CoolPeel is the minimal downtime. 

We recommend at least 7 days before treatment to stop any topical retinoid therapy and other active ingredients, such as acids.

To hydrate your skin and optimize treatment results:

• Use Regenerating Skin Nectar by Alastin twice daily
• Moisturize your skin at least twice daily
• Increase water intake to 8 glasses of water per day
• Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun
• Protect the treatment area with at least SPF30+

If you have a history of fever blisters, ask your provider about starting an antiviral prophylaxis 3-7 days before treatment.

Come to your appointment with the treatment area skin thoroughly cleansed. Remove all makeup, lotions, and perfumes. Coming straight from work? No problem- we will help you prepare for your treatment.

Once the skin is clean, “before”photos will be taken and topical numbing will be applied for enhanced comfort if necessary. Protective eyewear will be used during treatment.

While there is no need for anesthesia or localized numbing at your CO2 laser treatment, your provider may use a numbing cream for additional comfort.

• Apply a topical ointment (like Aquaphor) to the treated area(s) once the perception of heat has been reduced.
• To help lessen the potential for swelling, consider sleeping the treatment area elevated.
• Minimize the exposure to pets, such as allowing them to lick the treatment area.
• Limit alcohol consumption after the treatment to help minimize the risk for additional complications, such as bruising.

Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals so it is important to keep the skin hydrated. Use these steps for a minimum of 7 days after your CoolPeel treatment:

1. Cleanse with a gentle cleanser, such as the Ultra Calm Cleansing Cream by Alastin
2. Gently blot treatment area dry
3. Apply Nectar by Alastin Skincare
4. Use a medical-grade moisturizer
5. Use at least SPF30+ sunscreen during the day

When you return to your skincare routine, be sure to avoid certain products, such as retinols, until skin has completely healed. Talk to your provider about best post-treatment care and when you can return to your unique skincare regimen.
